Welcome to
Johns Creek,
Georgia
Established 2006
Members of the Committee for Johns Creek (CJC) today congratulated Governor
Sonny Perdue and the entire North Fulton County Delegation on the signing of HB
1321. The bill, authored by Speaker Pro Tem Mark Burkhalter (House District 50)
calls for a voter referendum on the creation of the City of Johns Creek in
unincorporated Northeast Fulton County.
“This is a monumental day in the history
of the City of Johns Creek,” said CJC Chairman Mike Bodker. “The future citizens
of this great city owe a huge debt of gratitude to Speaker Pro Tem Burkhalter,
and the entire North Fulton Delegation, for their dedication to seeing that the
voice of the people is heard. We thank Governor Perdue for acting swiftly to
ensure that this legislation is enacted without delay so that now the will of
the people can be carried out.”
HB 1321 calls for a voter referendum on the July 18th ballot to ratify the city
and was approved overwhelmingly by both the Georgia House of Representatives and
Senate.
In a move signaling the group’s resolve to meet with and fully inform those
citizens who will be called upon to vote in the referendum, the CJC has also
announced the first in a series of Town Hall meetings will be held on Tuesday
April 18 at Perimeter Church. The meeting will discuss the City Charter and the
plan for an orderly transfer of government services as laid out in HB 1321.
